Burma Trip notes
Getting there
The easiest and most economical way to join a Burma trip is to fly into Ranong Airport......alternatively you could fly into Phuket. We can arrange our mini van to pick up your group from either airport, transport you to Ranong Port, assist you through immigration formalities and have you delivered by Longtail boat to the yacht. Nok Air as well as several other airlines operate daily flights from and to Bangkok and other destinations.
Once border crossing formalities are completed you will join Swift which would normally be anchored on the Burmese side of Kawthung.
The Local authorities will come on board and complete your Burma entry paperwork as well as collect the various fees they levy for entry and sailing in Burma. *Entry Fees are paid mostly in USD cash while the harbor and port fees are payable in Thai Baht and normally amounts to about 10,000 TB per trip payable to them.
- Please provide passport details at time of booking with exact name as per passport (including middle name), as these are essential for booking services on this trip. The passport details provided must match the passport you are traveling on.
- Visas will be obtained by the group on arrival (at border crossing between Thailand/Myanmar) with the assistance of our local representative.
- Please bring:
2 passport photos.
Crisp and tear free USD for fees*
4. *Due to concerns over counterfeit money and exchangeability, the Burmese authorities do not accept the following:
US dollars with the letters AB and CB at the start of the serial number (top left-hand corner of the note).
Notes must also be in pristine condition, not older than 2006 and devoid of pen marks, folds, rips or tears.
5. Burma Fees payable in cash by guests:
Please contact us for a quotation of expected fees you will have to pay on arrival in Kawthaung. We need to know how many people in your group and the duration of the trip.
Travel Insurance
We would strongly recommend you take out trip insurance for any of your sailing holidays, for many different reasons; medical, loss of baggage, delays, accidents and other unforeseen circumstances that could cause you to cancel your trip entirely and lose the charter fees you already paid. Many people do not think this is a likely turn of events but anything can happen, and it is better to spend a little more for coverage of your holiday than take the risk of losing all. After all, you insure your car....why not your holiday?
Below are a few links of possible insurance providers who come recommended by other sources and can provide policy coverage on-line.
